Meet Dr Chris Choi, our Korean-speaking dentist

Dr Chris provides general dental care, including:

  • check-ups, cleans and fillings
  • tooth extractions, including surgical extractions
  • dental care for children
  • clear aligner treatment
  • crowns, bridges and other restorative treatment
  • cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening

Why seeing a dentist who speaks Korean can help

Speaking with your dentist in Korean doesn’t change the standard of clinical care, but it can make it easier for you to take an active part in decisions about your oral health. Many patients find it helps them to:

    • describe exactly where it hurts, when it started and what makes it worse
    • share medical history, medications and past dental treatment accurately
    • ask about every treatment option – including the risks, costs and what happens if you wait
    • understand aftercare instructions once you get home
    • support parents, grandparents or children who are more comfortable in Korean

Dental treatments at our Doncaster clinic

Supreme Dental Doncaster offers general, family and cosmetic dentistry in one location. Not every dentist provides every treatment, so when you book we will match you with an appropriate dentist and tell you if a referral is needed.

What to expect at your first visit

  1. Book your appointment. Call us and mention you would prefer a Korean-speaking dentist. We will offer times when Dr Chris is available.
  2. Bring what you have. Your health fund card, Medicare card (if you have one), a list of any medications, and previous X-rays or dental records – including records from Korea, if available.
  3. Examination and discussion. Your dentist will examine your teeth and gums, explain what they find, and talk you through your options.
  4. A clear plan and cost estimate. If treatment is recommended, you will receive a treatment plan with an estimate of fees. You are welcome to take time to decide.

Studying or working in Melbourne on a visa?

If you are an international student, on a working holiday or on another temporary visa, check your health cover before your appointment. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and many basic visitor policies are designed for medical and hospital costs and often do not include general dental care, so you may need “extras” cover to claim a rebate. Your insurer can tell you what is included. Our team can give you the item numbers for your planned treatment so you can check your rebate in advance.

Health funds and payment options

  • All health funds accepted, with preferred provider arrangements for HIF, NIB, HCF, Medibank and Bupa
  • Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for eligible children
  • DVA and Victorian Government dental voucher programs
  • Card and cash payments
  • Payment plans through Afterpay and Humm – eligibility criteria, fees and terms apply; see payment options
